Kroon Hall is the Yale School of Forestry & Environmental Studies. We had a marvelous tour guide who spoke to us about the origin of the building and various aspects of its construction. She explained that some of the world’s leading architects were brought together for the construction of Kroon Hall.

Kroon Hall, Yale School of the Environment Designed as Yale’s sustainable flagship, the LEED Platinum-certified Kroon Hall was named a top 10 green building by the AIA Committee on the Environment. A modern high-performance building that references its Collegiate Gothic neighbors, Kroon houses offices, classrooms and a dramatic day-lit third floor loft for the Yale School of the Environment. Kroon Hall, the new home for the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies, is the first building implemented from Yale’s Science Hill Plan. The project is one of the first LEED Platinum certified projects in the United States and will serve as a cornerstone for the ambitious sustainable and green construction efforts across the Yale campus. Now is the season of concrete at the Kroon Hall construction site. Having cleared the site down to the basement elevation, the construction team spent the month of August building up the footings and foundation walls. Kroon Hall, the ultra-green home of the Yale School of Forestry & Environmental Studies, is one of the greenest buildings in the United States.

Campus Building Yale University: Kroon Hall, School of Forestry and Environmental Studies Kroon Hall has unified the dispersed faculty buildings across Science Hill by becoming a focus for this micro-campus.

Arup's scope for this non-laboratory academic facility included structural, mechanical, electrical and plumbing engineering; acoustic consulting; and lighting design. And Kroon Hall’s modest form is perhaps its most eco-friendly feature of all.
